More on Tibet

The you tube video intrigued me a lot so I was just looking around the web for some information on Tibet. I had occasionally been reading about the conflict in the newspaper, but on briefly.

I found an article on Al Jazeera English website about Tibet.

It talks about how the EU is very against China’s response to the Tibet conflict. “We urge Chinese authorities to refrain from using force against those involved in unrest and call on demonstrators to desist from violence.” The Eu expresses its concern about “freedom of expression and peaceful protest.”

A lot of the members in the UN are supporting a boycott of the Olympics in China, but at the same time, some countries think that would be unfair. What is really happening during these protests? China appears to be the bad guy, but that you tube video is making second guess that view. When can protest be peaceful anyway? I think the truth in this conflict really is confused, someone’s not getting the story right. “The government said at least 22 people died in the city, while Tibetan rights groups say nearly 140 Tibetans were killed, including 19 in Gansu province.”

I found this cartoon titled “Dalai Lama Slams Chinese Repression” of interest.
